Daydreaming at 4:48 PM

… is a project that uses collected sounds to narrate a story. The personal soundscapes, an almost coincidental archive, become the inspiration for surreal scenarios that mix the present with ‘wishful thinking’.

The recordings are sounds of nature, mechanical objects, street life, and sometimes overheard conversations in Jabal Al Weibdeh. They are also sounds from Damascene cafes and sounds of spiritual processions sent from across the Atlantic. Together with other musical or abstract sound interludes, they interweave to carry the settings and characters of the narrative.

The project ” Daydreaming at 4:48pm ” is a part of “Makan’s Voyage and transformation until February 2010, where the physical space becomes a lab that explores notions and meanings of space through the transformation in function over a period of several months.
